it's a midland 77-250k (pr27) dylan and the needle i'm on about is the s/rf on the actual cb
used to go right up when transmitting and depending on how far away i was receiving it would show a good strenth
but now it has dropped right down to half way  Confused

pic of cb

What setting is your srf swr switch on and what has it got (settings that is?)

If it's on Cal/Set it will go sky high if set to swr it will be lower, I dont know if this is what has happened with yours Col but just thinking of possibilities Wink

There's a manual here for the model down/up from yours, should be similar though Wink

no not yet ... the s/rf meter on the cb is purely a gauge to tell you how strong you are transmitting/receiving and does not have any other function or can be set like an swr meter.......going to check aerial earth when i get a chance as that can cause this prob and will also swap it itnto my mates truck...if it's still the same then i no it's a fault with cb

got cb sorted (fingers crossed) apparently it needed a jet wash to fix it (don't ask me why it's all witchcraft  Laughing ) but s/rs meter is now working as normal  Exclamation

i thought the aerial may not be grounding properly but can't see how a jet wash has cured it as it's bolted to truck
rather than using a mag mount but who am i to question the greater workings of the universe  Laughing  Laughing

just in time aswell as i'm out laning on sun  Very Happy  Very Happy
