Well I have never done it before and had an opportunity on Saturday to give it a whirl. Organised by a buddy on another forum and we all met up at the Premier Inn in Thetford just off the A11. Hung around for the initial chin wag and we then set off. 1 Trooper (mine) and 4 Fronteras of various ages and models. Feeling excited I pulled out of the car park ... only to lose all gears 100 yards down the road
One of the lads then towed me back to the car park where I got underneath and saw the Clutch Slave Cylinder peeing out fluid. Seals had gone. Got on the blower to call the RAC and felt thoroughly fed up. The day was perfect weather wise and it had to be the Trooper to let things down. One of us then had a bright idea and we all started phoning any and every motor factors in the area using various mobile phones connected to the internet to find numbers. The guy from the RAC arrived 15 mins later and said that he had a description of the fault and with a quick double check confirmed it. He asked if I wanted him to source one and got into the game as well. I also phoned Grandad to see if he had an idea if the Mk.I was the same as anything else but he wasn't too sure but reckoned that it was probably the same as early Fronteras and even the Mk.II/Mk.III. Phone calls were drawing blanks from everywhere and I wasn't too surprised seeing as the Mk.I was an old model and to be honest getting parts off the shelf is getting harder and harder these days. Then by a complete stroke of luck a place 2 mins away had one. The RAC guy drove me up there and £50 later was back in the car park and he fitted it for me for free. 1 hour 45 mins after initial breakdown we were all back on the road again full of joy. Hats off to the rest of the lads who hung around till it was fixed and gave me moral support.
We covered 40 miles of lanes around the forest involving some deeply rutted areas and the occasional water trap. Found some really tight twisty turny bits as well, and the highlight had to be the night run we had to do due to running late.
Anyways some photos and a few vids from the day:
New Slave Cylinder
Fixed and running again

Cheers Steve. I will put your other numbers in my phone and remember for next time (which hopefully won't happen )
I am still grinning from ear to ear, and I can remember the route we took so I might organise a day for us lot here to have a go.
Definatly got the bug now. Even picked up a complete CB setup for £25 the next day in preparation.
Just need to get the OS maps so we don't get totally lost _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

That sounds like a plan Paul. Shall we get a list together for say later in the month. It will be prudent to limit it to 5 vehicles at the extreme most as that is the acceptable limit on these things. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition
