Can anybody help me please.  Embarassed ( or could be death from the wife) violent1
The frontera split its radiator today, took it out and as the fuel enconomy was a bit off thought i'd check the camshaft timing. Looked like the exhaust cam was a tooth out. 2 things, How do you align the crank pulley and any pics of camshaft timing mark. all looks ok but runs very rough. did satart ok but sounded like a bag of spanners so turned it off. Now its just rough. Have I done a valve or is it "safe" thanks

Try the Frontera Owners Club. They have a complete sub-section on these.

The cams have a line on each inlet and exhaust and the rear timing cover has two 'V' indent on the top do not try to line them up facing eachother as its not right  the lines are straight up and line up with the rear timing cover v's - the crank sprocket has a 'V' which lines with a 'I' on the oil pump housing
not a safe engine - once timed do a compression test
Best using a cam locking tool - and set the tensioner to 'used'
if you pm me i can send the full timing info
its a piece of cake - really easy to set
cheers
Steve

Thanks guys, spent a while trawling internet and found pdf manual for frontera. Like you say, piece of cake when you know how. Engine runs sweet and quiet.

Life? Saved. Very Happy
