Hi gents I just wondered what diff/axel breathers are fitted as standard on a 95 big horn mk2 3.1td?

I am going laning the week after next and I dont want to fill my nice new 80w90 with water! do you guys extend the tubes and if so how? and where do you get the bits.

also do you have any other breathers you tube or plug for laning? is there a cambelt one that needs help for offroading?

Most axle breathers end up inside the engine bay on the inner wing - you should be able to see them as they are normally together - all bunched up lol

Got both axles, gearbox and trans box all extended to the bulk head,  b&q micro sprinkler hose can buy in quite good length roll and not expensive   Wink  doesn't seem to get affected by oils etc either.

Cambelt... Never had an issue and I had the 3.1 in some quite deep water.

Make sure all you engine breather pipes are in good condition so don't let water into the engine. if gonna be driving a lot of water you'll wanna change the oils after anyway even with extended breathers, water can get past the seals. Same goes with the front wheel bearings  strip/clean and regrease. If gonna be driving deep expect the fan blades to wanna make a Sharp exit and the alternators aren't a big lover of water especially if It's dirty.

Front axle should be near the fuel filter, rubber hose that's looped over on itself. Rear axle should be attached to the chassis near the brake flexi to the axle. Gear box and trans box are on  top of them

I got my front axle extended up to top of bulkhead and rear axle extended up into rear quarter panel just above the light cluster i used about 8mm rigid airline fits nicely into existing rubber hose, depending on 4x4 type (SOTF or auto/manual hus) there are a few extra breathers on the front axle for the SOTF vacum shifter
