Well, day 5 and things are coming along nicely.....

......need another bag of the white gravel, just to tidy it up a bit.

Took the log in the middle out of the old tank today, and to say Mr Loach is a bit peed off at the moment would be an understatement  Rolling Eyes   Guess he'll have to move into the castle for a couple of days  Laughing .

I'm going down here tomorrow  Cool >>>Abyss Aquatics<<<. It's only about 2 miles away, and I've driven past it many a time, but always assumed it was trade only  Rolling Eyes . Just something about the building and its location I guess  Rolling Eyes .

I'm gonna be like a kid in a sweetshop  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

Day 7......

Went to that place yesterday, absolutely awesome  Cool . Reckon it's the only fish shop I'll ever need, apart from the one that does chips  Rolling Eyes  Laughing

Got me 3 live plants, and a bargain centrepiece too  Cool . Put them in yesterday morning, having finished the 3 day "cycle" treatment, and introduced my 5 Danio's last night.
They seemed quite happy for 24 hours, so I've just moved the 5 Harlequins in tonight......

I've never seen either of them shoal in the old tank the way they are in the new.
Just my 2 loaches, and a couple of straddlers (including a single neon that's been in there since day 1   Razz ) left now...

Well, job done  Cool .

All the ickle fishies have moved into their nice new home  Very Happy . I'll tell you something though, them loaches are absolute bu99ers to catch  Shocked One nearly jumped out of the tank, so I left them for a while to calm down. Got them eventually. Just need to get some catfish pellets for them now, coz I think the new tank is a little too clean for their liking.

I feed pellet now and again but mainly Flake, Bloodworm and cucumber, You can buy a screwcumber

But i just shove a stainless steel spoon through it to weigh it down.  In my tank the Dollars,Catfish, Plecs and loaches eat it so i put big pieces in but i would start small. (they love it)

There is a good thing about fish keeping and thats there is no real right and wrong way (after the obvious things anyway) and you will find the happy medium for you and your fish.

Oh and my clowns have gone into hiding Sad (pretty normal though for new fish) they'll be out soon i hope Very Happy

I've heard of using cucumber to solve bouyancy issues before. I usually just feed them all flakes, and the loaches just clean all the surfaces. I just need something as a gap stop until the algae starts to take hold.

Cucumber, courgette, potato and a few other things can be used as a part of a varied diet but not all fish will eat it, With me having the plecs and dollars and the Catfish (Synodontis Ocellifer/there's hundreds of the bu9gers, This is one of the peacefull ones) they all have a go at any veg so it dosen't stay in the tank long, Some people just leave it overnight for the nocturnal feeders. As far as the bloodworm (frozen as live can carry parasites/disease) most fish will eat it and it's great for health and growth Wink

Now don't start going all Latin on me Dylan  Laughing  Laughing .

I know "Aqua"  Razz , but that's about it  Rolling Eyes , same with gardening, just can't get me head round the Latin bit at all  Shocked , and I did Latin in school too  Laughing

Seriously though ( Laughing  Rolling Eyes ), I'll give the bloodworm a go, but for now I reckon I'll stick one of those holiday tubs in. I've used them before, and the loaches seemed to like them.
