|
|
Hi
I'm a newbie to Isuzu and have recently purchased a 98S LWB 3.0 Duty. I have just read all the threads on engine failure..are they really that bad?? I hear nothing but praise for these vehicles. It seems like a well screwed together vehicle and seems a superior vehicle when compared to my last Discovery. Can anyone shed any light? Should I just get rid?

Well Scotty ......... Certainly don't get rid ......... if you consider the stories on the forum compared to the number of 3.0 owners ....... unless ISUZU ... were prepared to disclose figures you will never know.
How ever as they have issued a modification and 3.0 owners are entitled to the campaign work NOW ..... Yes it was a battle originally for owners and devastating...
It would appear that the mod is a success.

Ask them in view of adverse publicity surrounding the 3.0 ....I am seeking assurances and to give me confidence will you please put in writing why mods are not necesary for my vehicle.

I feel you need to be persistent in this, I was of the impression that all responsibility had been accepted for the necessary mods

Hello sjp .. Did you confirm with the dealer that the work they did was the sum total of all the necessary mods as agreed with the manufacturer for your vehicle.

Its quite simple, ring IM on 0121 522 2000, ask for customer services Isuzu, and give them your chassis No. They will tell you what work is outstanding on your motor, and they will also tell you what work has been done, and by whom and when if you ask. Then ring the dealer that they have told you did the work, and confirm it with them.
The service campaigns for the 4JX1 to date were ;
1) Injector sleeve modification
2) Turbo (something to do with an oil feed issue)
3) Brake master cylinder modification
4) Oil pick up pipe modification (in the sump)
Apparently not all 3.0DT Troopers are subject to all campaigns, they seem to be in batches according to date of manufacture, NOT date of registration, this is why you need to quote your chassis No.
There is another "recall" due in 2006 for the ceramic heater wires, and there has been talk of another injector "recall" sometime in the future, although IM seemed "unaware" of this when I last spoke to them. _________________

Are you smoking something? Its had all the mods and still the seals let go. As I reported before there is a "final" campaign to change to a new type of injector coming soon. My seal failure was too early to catch this campagn which isnt available yet. The dealer charged for the work but luckily my aftermarket warrenty paid out. |
