I have a 1996 3.1 trooper. Above the timing cover I have 2 vacuum lines. 1 is connected to the t piece that goes to the vacuum pump on alternator and runs across the timing cover and to the top of the diesel pump. The second one is not connected anywhere. It's a dead end by the alternator and runs alongside the other vacuum line but comes to a dead end just past the power steering pump. Is this right?
I only ask because I have been having vacuum problems with my brakes, also when I put my foot on the gas there seems to be a delay as to when power comes in, basically low down it feels like I have no power.
Second guys and girls my brake fluid bottle on top of master seems to be a bit loose. Does this mean the seals have gone or would it be ok to run? do I need to use the rubber thingy that goes on top of the bottle lid also?
Thanks for your help

There is some more for the egr's and quick warm up but that gives you a good idea of where things go.

When you say it does not go anywhere is it blocked at the end with something or just an open end as if it's come off something?

And to the brakes ofcourse Embarassed

The online manual covers it all really but i dont think there is a diagram for all the vac pipes together, The reason i asked if it's blocked off is it could be the pipe to the troublesome quick warm up and someone has taken it off?

I think the best possible thing you could do is get some pics on here of where it is and we'll probably get a better idea, If its going past the power steering pump it could have been heading for the vsv's on the n/s inner wing for the egr's but i seem to remember/think these should come up from below.

As far as i remember the only vac pipe that goes to nothing has a small air filter on the end.

I don't quite know what pipe you actually mean though.

The online manual is

HERE

The vsv's are fixed on to the inner wing (the valves with vac pipes going to them ) and they are down near the air filter box.

The VSV's indicated in the above diagram are on the front axle. They are for the 4wd system. The check valve is a round plastic thing (white or orange depending on what they had in stock at build time) about 1" diameter.

yes 4wd works perfect. i was using it on sunday so know thats all good. im taking out the t piece in the vacuum thats loosing me pressure and hoping that it will be ok. ive just gone through the full manual looking for diagrams or charts of where the vacuums go and no luck there. im pretty sure it will be ok as she runs fine. only problem ive been having is that my handbrake light keeps coming on when i put my foot on the brake, but now im sorting out the leak it should be good. i just hope i put everything else on where it was supposed to go....

Top vacuum pipe on the side of the air filter housing is where the other one goes on mine.
