Yeah I'm on rough country nitro shocks up front, would happily put them on the back too. Controls the front end really well. _________________ landcruiser 80 series 4.5, 35's/33's for road, 2inch lift, discreet winch, sliders/armour, factory lockers, stainless side exit +++++ |

For jobsey, only got standard size wheels and tyres in the pic...

That doesn't look bad on standard wheels and tyres. I fancy getting a 2" suspension lift but wasn't sure how it'd be before the bigger tyres go on. |

What do you reckon are best then Gary, rough country or pro comp?
It doesn't look too bad on stock rims and tyres but looks better with my other set on, shame I can't run on the other set all the time but they would wear out far too quickly!! _________________ 2000 3.0 Trooper Duty swb |

I've never used pro comp so can't say tbh, I preferred the adjustable Rancho shocks (which are still on the back) but it was a cost thing!! _________________ landcruiser 80 series 4.5, 35's/33's for road, 2inch lift, discreet winch, sliders/armour, factory lockers, stainless side exit +++++ |

Oh right fair enough mate, I'll go with rough country's on the front and maybe try the pro comps on the back. _________________ 2000 3.0 Trooper Duty swb |

In my limited experience of longer shocks the thing that comes up is the main use -
With the Terrafirma shocks which sadly dont come in a Trooper size and mount the damping is spot on for offroad and firms up on the road so there is not too much lean on corners and roundabouts .
Gwyn Lewis 4 x 4 stocks all the good makes too so is worth a ring for price . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

I see you fitted the Landrover spring plates and springs, did you not fit the retainer plates as well to secure the coils to the plates?
No.3
I was going to do this to my Trooper but came to the conclusion that smaller diameter coils allow for a softer taller springs to be fitted with a shorter closed length due to less coils.
There are coil manufactures that can custom make coils to your spec. |

Not bothered with spring retainers yet as the springs don't dislocate. The springs I've put on are perfect for my needs. _________________ 2000 3.0 Trooper Duty swb |

bit of a question on the LR springs pete .... the LR springs are shorter than troop ones so will the say +2" ones only acctually be maybe 1" taller than standard troop ones ..and did you do anything e.g with top mounting as LR springs are wider than the troop ones so i would think they have the possibility to move around if just fitted over standard top troop mount ??? _________________ LTM NO.41 |

Hi col, on the above pic the landy spring measured just over 2" longer then the standard one, granted the standard spring was a bit tired though. They measured the same length as te lwb springs with 2" spacers on but have lifted the back of the truck more then the lwb and spacer combo, I'm presuming the spring rate is a bit stiffer.
As for the top mount, there is the possibility for them to move about but it hasn't caused any problems, I might make a nylon inset to stop the movement happening though. _________________ 2000 3.0 Trooper Duty swb |

cheers pete ...although often said they are the same the swb troop springs are shorter than lwb ...mine didn't have the 3 progressive coils and when i got some lwb ones that did they stood nearly 2" taller ... can't 100% remember but i think my mates standard disco springs were slightly shorter than mine (i'll double check) ..but thank's for the info as i may also convert plate to take the more readily available, wider choice and cheaper LR springs _________________ LTM NO.41 |
