Hi Pete and everyone on the forum!

My name is Adam and im new to the forum. I have been looking at getting a trooper for a few weeks now and at how to lift one up.
Please forgive me as I have only ever driven a transit van and haven't really got a clue what im talking about!.

On the lift side of things then, I will more than likely be towing a trailer with a bit of weight on now and again. Am I right in thinking that I can buy some spring plates and use the terrafirma TF023V as mentioned before on the rear. Then, on the front, can I just wind the torsion bars up around 10 turns to compensate?

My other questions are can I use the standard shocks for the time being and also I cant seem to find the mounting plates on eebuygum so any help with this would be appreciated. Many thanks for your help!

you can get away with standard shocks ...ithey will just limit downward travell (limit articulation)  Wink

as for plates loads on ebuygum if you no where to look/type in  Wink

i got mine from here ...cheapest i could find

After reading this superb 'how to' I've rushed out and bought a pair of Defender 110 rear Bearmach +50mm springs, No. BA2253
Now I'm relly hoping they can be made to fit!  Laughing
I've seen the spring seats on the bay, but how about the ones that give an extra inch of lift as well, or is that being a bit OTT?  Shocked

That would probably make it overly high. Be sure to get 110 spring seats as they have a larger diameter then other landy springs, it might be a tight fit getting 110 springs to locate on the top mount too.

Oh eck!
I'll just try them on and see if they can be made to fit, without doing anything irreversible! They only cost £26 so its worth a try.....

Got the springs today, they are HUGE ! hilarious
The standard LWB ones will fit inside them, they look comical alongside the LR monster truck things I've bought!
The outer width is 125mm and the landy ones are 172mm....the steel is twice as thick as well. Fitting these is looking at best impossible!

Seeing as how it was my trial n error that got this idea going just stick the 110 springs back on the bay, then buy some 90 spring bases of LRS and something like these 221165101757 to go on em . Clamp em at the base ,or they will pop out on the trail .

Wilbur and Orville didnt fly on the first one they made  so get testing !

I'm going for the Flatdogs next!  Very Happy
As stated, you don't usually get things right first time....thats the fun of modding for me!
These things I've bought really are huge, they look more like Scania than Lawnrover!  I can lean on them with all my weight and they don't budge at all, makes me wonder just why such a small vehicle needs so big and heavy springs?
Thats why they are so slow I suppose!  Laughing

It really is trial and error to get the right ones for your personal needs, what works for one might not work for another but like you say that's part of the fun.

If you have a look HERE and scroll down to the bottom of the page there are all the specs of the Britpart springs - lift, poundage, free length etc. It's on that site  Smile
