All my bits arrived and new tank fitted in a couple of hours. Cannot believe the difference in how the Troop drives now. it used to take 5-6 seconds to start, now it's just two or three and so smoooooth to drive. There must have always been a tiny air leak from buying it and we just never knew. Funny it was never picked up by Tech2 (and this car has had a lot of close encounters with Tech2).

So thanks once again for your superb guide, you could have made a fortune back in the 80's writing VCR instruction guides Smile

Regards, Jeff.

Great instructions, great pictures but if you ever do anything like this again, invest in or borrow a hot pressure washer. You won't regret it!
I'm buying from Tank's direct and if it's wrong it will get sent back.

Following this guide, got the tank out.
8 gallons of diesel in it, and a tank with no drain plug.
Top pipes don't look bad at all, but why on earth did Isuzu bring all the diesel lines plus the brake lines, across the top of the coil spring upper mounting plate?
A better dirt trap would be hard to design!
Everything is rust free along the length of the left chassis rail, so a relatively short section of new piping will suffice.

Re drain plug.

When I very recently changed my rusty tank ... the original had a drain plug with a Dowty washer.

The replacement [Taiwanese] tank had NO drain plug.
