With tongue only partly in cheek….

Can someone explain what the practical benefit of body lift might be? Surely the limiting ground clearance over rocks and rutted tracks is that of the axles/diff housings? Much oversized wheels and tyres, with just sufficient bodywork clearance, I can understand, but lift alone, no.

Other than the dubious ability to clear transverse steps or ridges it would seem to me to be a heavy roadholding penalty to pay for a macho image! Or is it just the equivalent of the spoiler for the boy-racers? (Ducks under keyboard for shelter) Laughing Laughing

Dafydd W.W. ---- who’s unavoidable daily struggle through winter mud makes me wonder why anyone does it for pleasure, and, as responsible guardians of the planet should we be burning fuel for pleasure? Question Question Question Now there’s a profound question! Debate at length!

A body lift generally is done to allow you to fit bigger tyres without them fouling on the arches. After all, bigger tyres is the only way you can increase axle to ground clearance. It also allows you to use suspension with greater travel again without the tyres fouling the bodywork, essential for extreme off roading.

Nothing to do with that oxymoron from the colonies, freedom of choise. All of us here drive large (and from the posts here ,inefficient) vehicles. Are we all under the son of a bush, or do we have minds of our own. Confused Confused

There is no fredom of choice if there is no choice, look at a supermarket, you think you have a choice, and to some extent you do but you are only offered what the supermarket wants you to buy..... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Choise is subjective............I didn`t mean anything other than to say nah, nah nahnah....I was being frivolous about looking after the planet and should not of been
I particularly like the story of one enviromentalist who said that if a globe 10ft wide ,covered with a protective atmospere, with oceans, land masses, life forms, biodiversity suddenly appeared in Trafalger sqr, evry single precaution would be taken to ensure that this mini earth was protected,as it was the single most important thing in the world
Having studied enviromental impact of us humes on this fragile living thing we call home it does rather remind me of the prognosis of a certain mr smith (ok lets see who the movie buffs are)
If I have in anyway put a stopper in our banter, Lynn< by my flippance I humbly appologise Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

"I was being frivolous about looking after the planet and should not of been "
Its us "rich" farmers that rely on this planet for our living ( and you to live ) and to provide you with something for your bellys, on a micro scale if we ruin our farmland we're buggered and will have no in come, every farmer knows this from the plains of america to the dry deserts of africa ( have you ever seen a man making the choice of whether to use a bit of dung to burn as fuel or spreading it on his land ( thats a good one ) as fertiliser ? I have .
