hi there i'm new to this site but have had my trooper a while now. its a 92 cyprus import running a 3.1tdi gear driven engine the problem i have is it when starting up from cold it chucks out clouds of white/black smoke and misfires as if only running on 2/3 cylinders after 2/5 mins and alot of attemped reving to keep running it clears and runs ok it seems to lack in power it uses very little water has a small oil leak but am still trying to source the correct front crank pulley as original had hair line crack i managed to get a 96 pulley from a cambelt engine and had it machined to fit a new larger oil seal this has cured most of the leak so far.i have been told its simalier to the 4JG2 engine I have had quite a few problems finding engine bits as no one seems to know any thing about my engine HELP PLEASE E'MAIL ME AT demondog@tiscali.co.uk or post any replies on this site thanks for your help nathan.
