Thought I'd try a little experiment with the anti roll bars on mine.
The rear one is permanently disconnected now, and when I get round to it, some time before her next MOT, I'm going to remove it completely. The front until last week was the stock 28mm 3.0 one, with disconnects. The only problem is, the disconnects kept seizing up, and trying to tie the bar up out of the way so the wheels didn't foul it off road was a real PITA.
I've tried driving her with both bars disconnected, and I know it's a matter of personal preference, but I didn't like it, far too wallowy, and a bit scary on side slopes.
So, I thought I'd try fitting the smaller 26mm bar off a 3.1.
I haven't tried it off road yet, but on the road the difference is very noticeable. With the original bar the front end had very little roll when cornering, and it all felt too tight. She now pitches more when cornering, but on the whole the car feels much more balanced. I get the feeling that when I do take her off road the front end is going to work a lot better than it did.
It's a compromise, and time will tell whether it's worth it, but at least I don't have to keep taking a large hammer to those damn disconnects any more _________________
