Things are looking good just bought another 50 lts of Veg Oil from Farm Foods and a bag of spuds total price £48 and a few pence.

The Bighorn is running really well.

We put in 30 lts of Diesel and 30 lts of Veg Oil today, next we need to get a filter changed in a few hundred miles. Very Happy

Still going very well. Haven't changed the filter yet but have got one ready to go in when needed.

Bought the last 10 litre container of veg oil from our local Farm Foods for £9.95. Tescos have put the price of their 3 litre containers up from £3 to £4.

Pure veg oil in winter yeah but if you mix diesel in it runs fine, over winter 50/50 diesel to oil and you're away

Filter changed, it caused a bit of a struggle to get it separated but with the help of a vice the filter parted company with the mounting.  I reckon who ever put it on had muscles like a gorilla. I filled it up with Farmfoods finest and primed it, my better half turn the key and she fired first time not a cough, splutter or spit  Very Happy

She's been running like a dream, no problems

A little trip out yesterday to find a few fords in Somerset.

Farm Foods is still the best deal. We haven't notice any real change in performance, how about you.

On a Bighorn 3.1 TD like ours we haven't needed a heater but we are going to reduce the veg to diesel ratio in the winter so that the veg isn't allowed to thicken, which is the main problem with winter running on veg.

Many moons ago we used to put the odd pint of petrol in the tanks of our trucks to stop the diesel thickening in the winter. Would it work in veg oil ?

BTW It's worth looking in the "Oriental Foods" section of Tescos.  Ours sell 5 litre containers of veg oil in there at 2 for a £10.

If anything, mine "seems" to be running better than on 100% diesel.

wee bit of petrol will work . You loose a wee bit of power when its cold once you get moving an the warm return gets going its ually fine. You might have to do a filter change after few hundred miles of first use best wait till it starts to splutter before channging filter an always keep an inline filter in glove box for emergency . It has happend to me got clog after a filter change  when i first switched  did another 600 miles an filter clogged was down to a dirty mix from used stuff though with the fresh stuff  should be ok .  i have had to add a touch of dieselto mine lately as it bit colder here in clyde valley

Put another 20 litres in yesterday so we have been running on pure Rapeseed Oil for a month now with no problems.  Filter changed and found nothing in it.  She seems to run better and although she smells of fish and chips.
