|
|
Hi all,
I am going to view a 1996 3.1L Isuzu Trooper with raised suspension on Saturday, with a view to purchasing it.
Having never owned an Isuzu before, I was hoping that you guys could offer me some advice with regard to the main things that I should watch out for. Assuming that the engine is sound, my only other main concern at the moment is rust, so any and all suggestions at this point are very welcome... |

front cross member is a point to look out for and generally structurally underneath, this has been the demise of many a nice truck most other things can be fixed.

Sound for the good advice lads. I have since done a credit check and from the report it was imported from UK and has had 11 owners. Bit worried now that it doesn't seem to have any DOE/NCT done or hasn't any TAX history either. Going to make an appointment to see it this weekend as its exactly what I am looking for but might ask him if he would have any issue with me taking it up to a local garage just for a once over and check the list you guys mentioned.
Sound again, I will let ye know how it goes and hopefully have some pics to show!
One more question - if it doesn't go as expected do you know of anyone that carries out this type of work (raised suspension, etc...) in Ireland? I have a fair bit to spend but cant seem to find anyone doing this type of work online. Would also consider importing from the UK if the costs work out. |

Raised suspension is an easy job. You can get longer/stiffer springs for the back that will raise it by a simple 2". The fronts are adjusted by the torsion bar bolts midway along the chassis. A 2" lift can be done in a couple of hours. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition
