it's probably yellow now with age but it's right in the middle of one of the rows on the car loom side as the injector side is full of pink wires!

If you wish to try this test, it might be better to go to the connector J2 in the middle of those on top of the ECM where the same wire goes into J2-7 - and the wire itself is usually still WHITE here, too! More seriously, though, it's a more convenient place to do the necessary REPAIR-JOB after the test. It's a much handier place to re-solder the wire and re-insulate the cable AND it's a place less subject to vibration, so less likely for a repaired-cable to be later damaged.

I did the 'white wire' trick on mine recently but it had become a NON starter. As soon as I cut the white wire it started instantly. If you need to cut the white wire it is best to cut it at the ECM end, it can be found in the center plug (J2) that goes into the top of the ECM. If my memory serves me correctly it is the only white wire in that plug and is terminal #7.

I cut mine behind the opening section of the plug under the rubber boot so when it was rejoined it was not visible and protected from the elements.

I can honestly say say ive been a member at a lot of car clubs but none have been as helpful as the people at this one i really do apreciate it lads thank you

now the *beep* lickins done  Wink so this white wire trick if the old girl runs spot on after cutting this it will tell me that the oil pressure sensor is faulty? is that right?

can it carry on running this way? even tho id replace it anyway

thanks wayne

the reason you do it at the injector plug is because the pin can be removed very easy from the plug and refitted without the need for actually cutting the wire but each to their own i suppose

As mentioned in dozens of other posts on the 'White-wire-trick', when it's CUT - the ECM is getting the impression that the Oil-Pressure is at Maximum - so it fires the Injectors - but it actually sets them for minimal injection-time [to suit the max pressure!]. The engine would only limp along, with little or no response to throttle-movement.

So, you have NO CHOICE - repair wire and replace ORPS - IFF indeed the test DOES show that it's faulty! If it doesn't fire, with the wire cut, then the ORPS is probable 'NOT GUILTY', yer Honour, Sir!
