|
|
Having just bought a 2002 3.0l Trooper - 99.000 on the clock - dismayed to see 'Check Engine' warning appear on the display. Of course, this didn't appear when I took the vehicle on a short test drive!! This warning appears and then disappears before coming on again and so on. Can anyone help?? What does this mean?? |

I think 99.9% of the time the check engine on a 3.0 is bought on by the TPS (throttle position sensor) it rarely, if ever affects the running of the vehicle and a new tps is plug and play (no tech 2 needed)
It usually comes on and stays on though The guru's will be on later to advise you in more detail. _________________

|
|
Thanks for the info and following reading more about the TPS in your post, I feel more confident about the vehicle which I love. One other point, the vehicle has no service history what soever other than MOT certs (last in Nov'13 without any advisory notes) - would the cambelt have been changed do you think?? |

Not worth chancing it, assume it hasn't and get it done, especially if you have no other service history _________________ JDW

Give it a full service, and new cam belt
The cam belt is one of the easiest ever known to replace, and isn't expensive to buy....the 3.0 is a cracking motor despite what you may hear!
May also be worth checking to see if any warranty work is outstanding, yes it can still be done if its slipped through the warranty net
Ring IM Group on 0121 747 4000 ask for Isuzu technical _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

Thanks for the tip about the warranty and recalls - contacted IM - apparently the injectors were 'done' in 2009 - first bit of service history!!! Also found out from IM, that the vehicle had originally been imported new to Cyprus!! Have booked the vehicle in for the 2nd recall, TPS link I think he said. |
