|
|
My Trooper is a1995, 3.1d, it smokes and is lumpy on cold starts, I have tested the system and found the afterglow relay not working,
If I take a wire from the battery and energise the coil the relay clicks in and powers the glow plugs at 6V, (no lumps and no smoke)
There is 12v to the coil side of the relay with the ign on but no earth,
can I guess that the afterglow timer completes the earth circut and pulls in the relay,
My question is where is the timer and what does it look like? |

The pre glow and aftergow are done through the QOS -111 control system which has the two relays in . Its on page 6D6 - 2 and 8D-114 of the manual .
The actual QOS timer unit looks like its on the engine bulkhead in the middle but I've not tested one so not 100% sure .
It might be the thermo sensor is not working so it wont pull in the afterglow relay .
A on-off switch to do pre and after glow might be a cheap solution ? _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |
