Hi all,

I'm a new Trooper owner and it has not started well, hence the post. I have been royally shafted by the garage that sold me my 02 plate 60k on the clock Trooper which, after just 29hrs, cut out and wouldn't restart for several hours. They took it back to fix it, I picked it up and it did exactly the same. They towed it away and I haven't seen it since. They have since ceased trading so I have no claim to a refund or replacement (interestingly this happened after I got Trading Standards involved) and the new company say they are fixing it out of the goodness of their hearts - it's been 10 weeks now! And don't even get me started on the 'courtesy car' they gave me which runs out of tax on Monday and they haven't even indicated what they're going to do about that as they're not talking to me. I'm not even sure it's got an MOT!

Long story short, I have now lost my patience and will be arranging to retrieve the vehicle after the weekend and want any hints on what it could be so I can fix it myself or find someone who can - any offers greatly received.

The problem: It runs until it gets to working temp then cuts out and will not restart until stone cold - no get home mode, it just stops. I had put fuel in it shortly before this happened - AA confirmed fuel was fine. Fuel gets to filter but no further (can be bled out). Engine starts with quick start but obviously then stops.

The 'fixes' so far (apparently): I say apparently because trying to get anything other than 'it's all fine, it's all under control' out of them is like getting blood out of a stone. They replaced a couple of sensors including crankshaft sensor and exhaust (as I pointed out it was loose).
Specialist diesel garage diagnosed ECU failure, this was reconditioned then replaced as issue persisted.
Then went to an Isuzu independent dealership but I have no idea what they have done so far as they have been instructed not to communicate with me?! Well, the have not answered any of my emails anyway.

The following have been offered up as possible issues - fuel filter (would have thought that would be the 1st thing to be looked at but apparently not), fuel pump solenoid, immobiliser issues, ignition system fault, warm air uptake.... any other suggestions greatly received and I will tick off any that have been looked at once I get it back and have a run down of what they have tried (if I get it back)!

Has anybody used the correct Tec2 diagnostics scanner on the car ?
Saves all this guesswork if used correctly.

I would say from what you have posted that the orps is a failing,
Not hard to check if it is that well covered on forums.

You can cross off these things too;

Fuel pump solenoid ,no fuel pump solenoid as it's not got an injector pump.
Warm air uptake , don't know what that is maybe something from Heathfield ?
Ignition system fault ,it's diesel not petrol.

ECU may be faulty but without Tech 2 it's hard to see. Same with the immobiliser .

Thanks guys, it has been plugged into every known computer available as far as I can tell but, apparently, it is now fixed but as I still don't have it back I can't confirm that it is! ECU was reconditioned then replaced, I do know that so that wasn't the problem. Hoping to get it back today but they're trying to put me off til Thursday because they need to arrange to pick up the courtesy car they gave me and then refused to retax!

im certainly no expert and gribble and ethan are your guys,

works from cold till working temp then cuts out, could that be the Do not touch button that closes the exhaust valve for reheat, could be jammed on??

prob not but just a thought, hope you get sorted m8, and as for the garage being told not to communicate with you, your the owner who else would they talk to. sounds like a right mare m8, best of luck.

All fixed - only took 3mths!

It was the oil pressure valve sticking! ORPS was the 1st thing they tried apparently. Goes to show what cowboys they were though as it returned pissing oil all over the place and when I went underneath it to try and locate the problem, the oil filter hadn't been done up properly. At least that only took me 30secs to diagnose and fix (hate to think how long it would have taken if I'd sent it back!).
