Just to update, I have washed the left hand side of the engine, passenger side, with degreasing spray and then rinsed with a washer pressure to clean the engine and try to find the source of the oil leak.
The oil is definitely coming from the front left of the engine where the hpop is. The problem is that I cannot see the side of the hpop next to the engine and the other side of the hpop is definitely clean and no oil is coming out. I assume now the leak is from the right hand side of the hpop but how can I find the leak without having to remove it completely?
I've looked from the bottom of the engine, but cannot see where the oil is coming from.
Is there a connector or pipe that comes out from that side of the hpop? next to the engine block.
I think my mechanic has never worked on Troopers before, how easy is to remove it ?

Hi All, an update on the oil leak. Presumably from the hpop the mechanic removed the oil pump and what we suspected was wrong!
We thought that the leak was coming from the side plug of the oil pump next to the engine, but when we removed the pump that plug was completely dry. Now that we removed the pump oil has leaked nearly everywhere so it is impossible to establish if the pump is leaking or not, but where else could it leak??
The sound deadening foam is soaked in oil, so I assume the oil is coming from the pump, the rocker cover gasket doesn't seem to leak.
As we removed the pump we are going to replace all the orings we can find and see if it solves the problem. Definately the leak must come from the side of the pump facing the side of the engine block as the visible side of the pump is dry and no leaks are visible, even after being jetwashed last week.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know, I'll update if any has been found

Hi Gribble, the guy at the garage changed the orings but didn't remove the foam around the hpop so it's still impregnated with oil.
Anyway, today I removed the head cover plastic protection and foam to see if the rocker cover gasket was leaking and to my surprise is clean and dry, and the wiring loom as well, nice and clean.
What I've found is that the first glow plug toward the timing belts is leaking diesel, only slightly, and slowly fills the gap between the manifold and finds his way down right on top of the hpop.
Now on the old mot (05/14) an oil leak was an advisory item, I wonder if the oil leak soaked all the foam around the engine and now the diesel leak is still diluting it and looks like oil is still leaking. What comes out the foam looks very likely oil and not diesel diluted oil but how much disel it would take to wash it out?

Check the steel pie that puts diesel into the head ,it can come lose or crack careful though its not a strong part don't over tighten it .

Thanks to Eithan the oil leak is now solved and the diesel leak too!
The problem was the hpop leaking at the back plug, by the engine side. When removed before the leak was not visible because the oil was absorbed direclty by the foam attached to the engine, so there was no oil sign on the pump itself.
Regarding the diesel leak visible at the top of the manifold, the leak was from the steel pipe under the manifold and somehow the diesel was finding his way up on top of the manifold.
Even when you would think leaks go down sometimes, at least here, leaks might go up!!  Wink  Shocked
