Hi I am new member. I previously owned a 3.1 TD Citation manual which was great had no problems with it ran on for ever. Never owned an automatic before put supposed to be better for towing so bought a 3ltr automatic 2005 plate. It was fine to start with but didn't have any power when cold but drive fine once warmed up. It then started to be sluggish starting but once warmed up ok. Until recently when it became temperamental starting. then the other day after a long Journey back from Wales when slowing down the ending just stopped and all the lights came on. Put into park and restarted. It did same thing next day so took to dealer for a diagnostic test. They said it had an outstanding call back throttle something. They did this and afterwards did diagnostic and said nothing was showing. Started ok going to work but cut out again when slowing down at a queue. It was also temperamental starting again. Anyone any ideas ?

Hi and welcome to itoc. You will find it very useful now you have a 3.0L.
sounds like the oil rail pressure sensor is starting to play up or a sticky control valve.

I spoke with the mechanic who did the recall and he said after recall work had ran diagnostic and nothing appeared to be wrong. He said had checked the ORPS and it was working and thought it might be pick up from the sump? Not sure what he meant by that but car started ok not straight away and idles for a while then just cuts out. Really don't understand why. I can rev the engine up etc it does seem to jitter once you rev up and take your foot off the gas quickly and cuts out. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated or could this be the ORPS being intermittent?

I'm with crusader on this one .
The sump pick up pipe can be checked out by adding 2 litres extra oil over the full mark so the pump inlet is covered rather than it sucking .
