Thanks Gribble but not much use to me, on an offshore Shetland island! Over the past couple of years this vehicle has been out of action more than on road. Living in such a remote location, diagnosing faults and getting and fitting parts takes a bit of time. Once I've eventually fond wahts been wrong, I've had to replace several parts (oil sensor, 4wd switch on axle, fuel filters, wheels and only two weeks ago bought two new batteries), its just one thing after another, but maybe the time has come to admit defeat!? How do I test if its the ecu? |

You can do a flash code test in the OBD socket and if thats bit of the ECU's still working it may help with seeing whats wrong.
Find the OBD connector (see my setting the orps post) and join pins 4 and six with a paperclip then turn the ign on . If the systems ok it will flash the check light at you and give a code .
Get the online manual up and in the 4JX1 engine bit it converts the code to a fault .
There is also Trooper Ian up your way who has a Tech 2 but I don't know the travel situation for him to you .. _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Hi Gribble, been away and/or too busy lately. I've found the plug (looks like a female scart plug?). Do you count from left to right to find 4 & 6 and do you insert a paperclip into the holes at the top or the bottom? Many thanks. |

As you look at the plug with the clip on the top and the longer side on the bottom pin one is on the lower right and pin 8 is lower left. _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |
