Hello

i recently bought a 2003 3ltr trooper. started ok when i bought it but since then its took a while to start, only about 6-7 seconds which i can live with. But for the first couple of minutes driving it has no power, struggles to get to 60, thankfuly when leaving for work and leaving work, im straight onto a downhill. Only does it when its cold, when its warm it fires straight up and drives 100%

Ive read about orps but all problems with that seem to stop them starting altogether

Any help would be great, it will get anything it needs as im really impressed with it

Cheers

when it starts are you able to rev it up whilst it's idling? if not thats orps if it revs and drives but feels like theres no turbo then it could be a blocked map sensor which is very common on the euro3 engine

cheers for the reply

yeh i can rev it and it does drive just after being started, i have done a full service which has helped the starting, old oil was the worst ive took out of a diesel yet, done all filters, including the seconday oil

is the map sensor a simple job of taking it out and cleaning it?

Injector? Mine is doing exactly the same as that and it has a faulty injector

Check glowplugs too if it's struggling to start in colder weather

This just went from slightly poor starting to really struggling in the space of about 2 hours, it sounds lije its not getting diesel, probaly taking a good 20 seconds to start now. Only when its cold but. Soon as it warms up it starts straight up.

Normaly i would go for glowplugs but iver read alot about orps and another wee control valve on these 4x4s and was wondering if it could be one of these

Sorry for spelling mistakes this is wrote on my phone

cheers for the reply, im begining to think its dirt from the bottom of the tank. Was hard to start at lunch time, but not as hard as before, come half 5 when i went to go home it started same way it used to, if anything maybe easier. I have a spare fuel filter for it so will try it tomorrow if its still not starting right

worst case if it is orps i will get one on it this weekend
