Two ways of looking at it or doing it..............If you want to see pressure at manifold then the easiest way is to put a pipe fitting into the plate that blanks oof the EGR valve positions ( if you dont have that then you would need to go straight into the inlet manifold).
If you want to see the wastegate control pressure ( especially if you fit a boost controller) then "T" into the pipe from intercooler to wastegate actuater.
In both case then plumb straight into gauge. If you fit a boost controller just follow the piping instructions  Wink

You can tee off the port out of the intercooler that feeds the fuel pump at a push Wink

Basically. Small length of hose to a tee. One branch then goes to the fuel pump. The other goes to your gauge.

Red Robbo is talking about putting a port into one of the EGR blanking plates (if you have them) like below which would be the best option:

This is the port I was talking about that can feed your fuel pump and boost gauge (port 1):

I guess it's the same point as any other gauge, it gives you a live read out of data so you can see that the system it monitors is working as it should Cool IMHO having a read out of boost pressure is quite handy Smile

Knowing that the turbo on the 3.1 isn't the most reliable you can at least know if it is boosting properly in case something goes awry.

Looking at that last picture, I don't have an actuator on my 3.1?

How about fitting one onto the mighty 3.0?
It will give me one more gauge to look at and worry about  Shocked

Pipe "1" is the feed from the intercooler to the top of the fuel pump. When the turbo spools up and creates boost it by default forces air down this pipe. This forced air then pushes down on a diaphragm in the top of the fuel pump allowing more fuel through to compensate for the increased air. More air and fuel bigger bang more power.

This common on the 3.1 and 2.8 engines.

That photo is from my 2.8 and as such has the QWS (Quick Warm-up System) inlet actuator on the inlet to the intercooler. The 3.1 doesn't always have this. I have seen some with and some without. My 3.1 does have it. Now the QWS is only of real use when its really really cold, which it never gets to here in the UK. Also the exhaust actuator on the 3.1 is notorious for jamming up shut when used. As such people disable it along with the EGR's by removing all the hoses and running a single line from port "1" to the fuel pump.

If fitting a valve to the wastegate I know that one listed as 2 is not it but bit lower is that it
Would you go with electric gauge or a standard one
