My only input which was poo pooed was the oil pressure seemed low and didn't increase on cranking

Hello , well there could be a number of things but first up is how long have you tried to start it for ?

Will want a turn or two if the lower filters been off .

What oil did you put in ? 5/30 fully synth is the one .

The dash gauge is for the lube side not the injection side but if its not going to where it normally does on cranking it might be a sign that the  suction strainer is at fault  so it might mean the injection one is too.

Hi

Are there other posts about the strainer? this is going to involve me arguing with the mechanic as he says it cannot be anyhting to do with the oil and it must be to do with the fuel primer which he thinks has a perished seal as no fuel is coming through the filter.

Thanks for the replies so far

no if it starts order a new strainer and seal, you can bypass the filter housing by putting the fuel line straight to the hpop, the primer unit is another cause of non starts.
