I've picked up a 2003 3.0d which had been run dry on fuel, gallon of diesel and it started up but ran rough like it was on 3 cylinders.
drove the truck home and it didn't improve ticked over bad and smoked white smoke.
Now I can no longer get it to even start:-

White wire cut, over filled oil 5/30, ropcv cleaned out seemed ok piston free, cam and crank sensor look like there sending signal
on multi meter, brake fuse ok, 2 feeds to ecu ok, fuel at cylinder head supply pipe.

Any ideas or is it just got to have tech 2 now ? ( which I don't have ) Rolling Eyes

could be hpop itself or a leak on the injection side so it can't make pressure, or it's sucking air via the tank or primer

Hmm thanks for the advise, I've run a pipe into a fuel can direct to the pump and after a while cranking the fuel up it started !
Next job is to try running direct from the tank and bypass filter.
