With the way things are going it will probably be used as best.
I also have a renault magane, but that's ready to be changed, i fancied a freelander but having secound thoughts, a range rover would be ok as i could pull the trailler if the bighorn breaks down, but have heard many a bad thing about them, dont fancy another trooper got enough of them.
Disco 3 would be nice but not got enough cash the silver 2.8 is taking all that _________________

Don't do it....we've had two, an early 1.8 petrol and the wifes current TD4 and our experience has been that they are garage queens. There is however, a guide to finding a decent one in this months LRO mag should you be a total masochist. I actually like them apart from the non height adjustable seats doing their best to wear away the hair from the top of my bonce and the sh**e build quality. In 55K miles/under two years the wifes TD4 has had the following:
New fuel pump (stranding me at the petrol station blocking a pump when 32 weeks old)
New injector
New Cam sensor
New turbo hoses
new EGR valve
new turbo boost modulator
Tracking adjusted after it wore the two front tyres to the belts on the inside
Its in again now with another turbo/fuel problem, a coolant leak, gear selection issues and starting problems. _________________ Phil

Don't I know that feeling, like the guy that took the bulb out of the ABS warning light before I bought it to disguise the fact that the ABS ECU in my Mazda was goosed as was a wheel sensor. A grand for a new ecu (scrapyard time!) _________________ Phil

I've got to say, I did like both of the cherokees we had, an old shaped 2.5 petrol (a little gutless but the diesel and 4.0 petrols are better) and a new shaped 2.5crd. Loads of off road goddies for them, especially if you're prepared to order via the web from the US. Also the new H3 Hummer will be available officially in the UK initially in LHD and then in RHD when production starts in South Africa this year..........Just imagine the picture, a line of "Chevrolet" Matiz and then a line of H3's in your local dae..sorry Chevrolet dealer. _________________ Phil

Can't beat a "proper" 4x4, i.e. Wrangler/CJ etc, bit of a lift, some big wheels and off you go. I drove a new shape 3.7L petrol Cherokee around the off road course at Tong on a launch event, standard apart from mud tyres and it performed flawlessly, all have an LSD as standard and are very capable, just need a bit more ground clearance. For pure fun rating and if I wanted a pure off roader I'd have to say I'd probably go for a Suzuki SJ, probably with a 1.6/2.0 Vitara engine in it or import one of the 1.9 diesels from France. Parts are cheap even aftermarket as they're so small compared to say a LR, loads of goodies like cheap lift kits, roll cages etc _________________ Phil
