|
|
Ok usual signs of lack of fuel poor starting in the morning and grey smoke but ok after that.
Tank has been done as have fuel lines.
Bypassed filter replaced engine fuel lines fitted NRV
But still poor so tonight was checking the fuel flow return to the tank with engine running and there is basically none yet engine runs fine.
Suspected fuel pump so changed it but still the same so the only thing I can think of is a partial blockage in supply fuel line.
Had some clear pipe in and there was no sign of air bubbles .
Anybody got any thoughts ? |

Thats very odd as the fuel is normally going through the head at a few litres/min
On the plate at the back of the head where the fuel comes out there are 3 bolts one of which lets the fuel out and it has a tiny restrictor in it,check thats not blocked as if the fuel can't get out it may pop an o ring on the injectors.
Poor starting on 3.0 can be down to many things .
Low cranking speed,3.0's like a good wizz over first thing .
Glow plugs - some 3.0's like heat some seem fine without.
Oil leak on the rail ,seal going so needs more cranking to get up injection pressure .
Pulling air in round the hand primer, rubber glove trick there. try pumping the primer before starting and see if it helps . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Yep it is a strange one
Gave it a good run today and now a very small flow out of the head.
A lot less than my other trooper.
Tried a temporary supply but still the same.
Runs fine and starts OK after initial cranking.
Defiantly fuel or plugs but suspect fuel
Tech 2 says injectors energised after a few cranks.
Not sure if low flow is a problem but I'll check bolt so thanks for that gribble |

Sorry to butt in, my 3.0 has just began to need a lot of cranking before it starts, but then runs perfectly. Its always taken about 4 seconds of cranking to fire, but its now double that.
I fitted a slightly used ORPS from a crahed 3.0 11k miles ago, I'm wondering if its worth fitting a brand new one? _________________ 1999 3.0 TD Duty SWB

You need to establish if it's the rail oil pressure or fuel or plugs
I use my tech 2 to look at injector status and see when they start to fire
If they are ok could be fuel or glow plugs
My latest problem is like yours and I'm still trying to bottom it out. |
