Hi all.

I have a 2003 Trooper 3.0D

There is a metal pipe bolted to the front left hand of the cylinder head (sits behind a bracket) which then runs rearward by the alternator and has 2 coolant pipes attached too. Anyhow, diesel appears to be leaking from the join between the cylinder head and the pipe. Is this possible as it looks to me to be some sort of exhaust gas recirculation pipe??

Thanks

Scott

no.diesel.it.might.be.coolant.though.as.the.egr.cooler.is.plumbed.in.to.the.cooling.system,
the.cooler.is.known.for.leaking.internally.which.results.in.white.smoke.and.loss.of.coolant.and.looks.like.a.headgasket.has.gone

Hi thanks for the reply............. It is DEFINITELY diesel without a shadow of a doubt. When I am aloud to post a pic I will. I collected the drips in a jar while the engine was running and it is DEFINITELY diesel. I just cant understand how diesel could find its way around to the left hand side of the engine?

Yes. Left hand side as you look at front of engine. Just sniffed the coolant, no diesel smell Smile

To add a bit more detail.... The bottom hose from the rad joins a big metal pipe. There were drips coming from the metal section but is running down from further up. I instantly thought coolant UNTIL I realised it was definitely diesel.... not mixed with anything else whatsoever

i.cant.see.how.diesel.can.get.to.that.side.either,if.the.inlet.pipe.leaks.it.runs.backwards.and.down.the.back.not.to.the.other.side!
if.the.fuel.gallery.leaks.it.goes.in.to.the.oil.and.if.the.seals.go.on.the.sleeves.it.goes.in.to.the.coolant

Thats exactly the thinking I have. I may have to start removing more to get a good look..im quite stumped! - The engine bay has always had a diesel smell and I though I'd found it.... Lets just say for the sake of argument that it is coolant, is the metal pipe that the bottom hose joins known for leaks?
