It sounds normal, takes very strong batteries to keep it cranking for any lenght. |

might be worth disconnecting the exhaust by the main oil filter and pull the flanges apart and see if it starts, also check the cam timing between the cams as it has been known for cams to twist causing non start |

The pipes are correct, when I pump the primer it comes out under pressure through the bleed screw. But I'll double check this.
I'll also try pulling the exhaust.
Whats the best way to check the cam timing, does the cover need to be removed from the timing belt in addition to the rocker cover. |

yes remove the cover and set the cam to tdc then check the back of the cams as they have a slot in them and make sure they are both horizontal to the head |

I did have one like this some time back which was the lower oil pump for the hpop strainer blocked so there was pressure seen on Tech 2 but it was air not oil so no injection .
If your seeing over 200rpm crank counts I'd go crankshaft sensor defective or out of range maybe due to excess crank end float but eithan will know a bit more than me lol ! _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Thanks Gribble, I guess its going to get an oil change also. What would you expect a normal rpm to be while cranking. |

as the ecu is enabling the injectors it's happy with cam and crank signals, i've seen 230rpm before on a non starter so i don't think it's crank related |

Thanks Eithan,
I'll check the timing and the exhaust tomorrow. If that leads to nothing I may crawl under and pull the sump cover over the weekend. |

On the off chance today I bought a can of easy start. I normally condemn anybody that uses the stuff, but I'm not feeling much love for the trooper lately.
It started and ran perfectly after a few attempts, no major smoke all very civilised.
I turned if off after a minute, and tried to restart, no good, same as before, gave it another sniff and off it went again.
I then let run for a good 5 to 10 minutes at different revs. Then turned it off and tried to restart it did but not as quick as I'd like it too.
I not sure what to make of it.
How quickly should my fuel container have emptied, I guess there was 3 or 4 litres in it?
I doubt it will start later when it gets cold again.... |
