only if you used oil from a chip shop
the virgin oil we've used has not produced any particular smell.

You could have some fun with additives & smells, just blip the throttle when you drive past someone you like or even better someone you don't like 8) _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

Now for the rural members ...methane is a worthy alternative..with all the sheep and cattle in NZ we wouldn't have to import oil if we could harvest all the methane burped and farted by our livestock..

Is anyone running something like 50% veg oil mixed in with their diesel and no fuel pre-heating? _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

So you just bought some veg oil & threw it in? Really asking for my lads 2.8. he needs to cut the fuel budget and we are off playing this weekend so will be burning quite a bit. We don't want to have to start filtering it etc. just buy a few gals at cossco and bung it in. _________________ 1994 KZJ70 Cruiser (currently filling the garage and causing some head scratching)

I dont know about cossco, mine was from asda
It smells a bit but the car did run fine, no problems, i even filled the fuel filter with pure veg oil when i changed it.
PS. my wife is getting pretty miffed of with me stealing the cooking oil when the fuel light comes on _________________ |

Hi all, yes you can use oil straight from the bottle (dilute with diesel) but long term it will coke up the engine (maybe the occasional bottle of injector cleaner would solve this one). The only solution is to make into biodiesel to stop the coking. But if it's 100% oil or biodiesel and not warmed before it enters the filter it wont flow too well also it may put a strain on the pump and knacker it. I think there are basicaly 2 types of pump one being Bosch (maybe more). One of them is more robust than the other and can cope with the oil better.
Another consideration is the oil WILL attack RUBBER seals etc so they need to be neoprene????? check that one with someone more knowledgeable.
I do sometimes use neat oil but not very often and only in small quantities, 4 or 5 litres per tank .
good luck keith |

I wouldn't !!! I tried mine on B100 about 18 Months ago, washed out crud got through the filter, and knackered an injector.
This engine is too delicate
I still run our Audi on it though (2 years no problems) _________________ Alwin
