So, I have replaced a 4JX1 (3.0 TD) with another 4JX1 and gearbox but now it wont start. I have also replaced the ECU, Immobiliser, alarm box and the one next to it (at the base of the centre console below the radio), as well as a box (not sure what it does) behind the passenger kick panel to be consistent with the engine-all came off the same car. Now, ive gone to start it and the Check Engine light is flashing rapidly when ignition is on then when turned to the final position, the dash lights all go off and there is a click from the starter. Because of this I'm presuming its an electrical issue. Any ideas?
Thanks
Samuel

you will need the key from the doner vehicle as well, the rapid flashing of the check engine light means the immobiliser isn't happy

A-ha! All sorted, runs good as new. Thanks very much Old Mill Motors, you're a wealth of knowledge. Handy too being close to oxford, I'll definitely pop over if I ever have a problem

Its a topical question for me ,this is!!
Yesterday , I was thinking I may have had to go down the route of fitting a second hand ecu , and with that , so as to avoid recoding at the dealers , an immobiliser ,AND a key!  3 years or more ago ,I had those 3 plus all the donar vehicles locks , which I didn't use ,but simply pushed the new key into the aerial ring and taped it in )

Every breaker I rang  yesterday ,who was advertising an ECU for a 3.0 Trooper , told me they could NOT provide a key , as the law or regs had changed ,and all salvage firms ,sold the vehicles on , but with NO key!!!

Would that be right? Confused
