Hi, my 1999 3.0 D manual with 80,000 miles has recently had some strange starting issues. It always starts in the end. Sometimes it just fires up straight away as normal. Sometimes when you go to crank it spins over as if it has no compression, turn the key back and try again and it is back to normal and starts fine! Also when it has been left for half an hour sometimes it will start, run for a few seconds and cut out, try again and after about 6 seconds of cranking it will fire up, run a bit lumpy for a couple of seconds and then drive fine. When running she is fast and smooth with plenty of power. The engine management light is not on (and it works). The engine oil is clean and doesn't smell of diesel. Any thoughts?

Thank you for the advise. I replaced the oil rail pressure switch yesterday and all is now fine again. I also changed the engine oil and filters again just in case. Big thank you again eithan h
