just picked up a 3.0TD LWB trooper . and the more I drive it the more I realise its like a blancmange on wheels ... my old 3.1 was a lot tighter to drive.
feeling lots of body roll and vagueness when cornering particularly turning into sideroads... really boatlike
also steering is very floaty in a straight line just done 100 odd mile on the motorway and i was constantly correcting the steering..
obviously its time to get it up and do the pushy pully thing on all the joints and bearings but at 120k im starting to think that the entire suspension is tired..
what are the easy parts to replace to tighten things up a bit?
thanks .
looks like the o/s front tyre is wearing on the inside. I made a few grunty noises while giving the wheel a pushy pully and there is some movement . so I suspect the wheel bearing..
so Ill get that done and as you say throw a set of shocks on , might treat it to springs as well .
the steering box, is that loosen big nut and tighten little nut up a bit until the slop goes? i think I did that on my old 3.1 many moons ago

Exactly the same as the 3.1 steering box.
Seconded the shocks replacement idea.
Wobbly wheel is an indication of loose wheel bearing. They can be adjusted fairly easily. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

good news folks
looks like rubbish tyres and front bearings need tightening up . everything else is sound as a pound...( with the exception of my post looking for a rear brake back plate)
