Hi.  We bought a very tidy 2003 Isuzu Trooper Citation SWB at the weekend.  One of the reasons we purchased it is all the glow plugs were recently replaced.  It's not a big problem but to start the car from cold in the morning you have to let the glow plugs heat up first (totally normal) and then crank the engine with the throttle pressed half way down.  The engine turns over OK and it does catch a little way into the cranking and then runs all fine for the rest of the day.  Is this normal for this engine (3.0 TDI) to have to apply half throttle when starting from cold or is this a sign of some problem?

Sounds like it is drawing air in overnight and you are getting a bit of drain back. Try using the primer (a few pumps) before starting the first time. Still do the normal glow plug routine, just no pedal.

I'll try that tomorrow morning and see if it helps.  Thanks for the advice.
