Just changed my ORPS due to starting issues and it's improved but not gone away. Didn't have it calibrated on tech 2 (what is this please?) so will that cause the starting problems to linger.
Thinking of changing oil rail pressure valve but having read bits this seems to cause complete starting failure which I don't have. Is this true, is it worth changing it?
Symptoms are : when on flat ground starts if I do the glow plugs twice, otherwise starts then stalls then takes some throttle to start again. When nose down on a hill it starts better. Fuel system checked out ok, new tank 2 years ago
Stumped as is local garage  Sad

sounds like the fuel is draining out of the head which used to be a common problem years ago. get your garage to clamp off the return line after it's last run and see if it starts any better the next morning, if it does you need a one way valve in the return line.

Just checked with mechanic and there already is a valve in the return fuel line so that's not the problem. Car starts, stalls then takes a while to start properly. Could it be the oil rail pressure valve?

Parked on the flat last night. Trooper started then stalled. Took about 6 seconds to restart. Oil pressure did not register until engine fired then increased to normal steadily.
Does that tell you anything?

don't worry about the oil pressure thats normal, is your garage certain about the return line as thats empty head symptoms so unless the oil level is rising..... or thinking about it have they resealed the fuel tube that goes through the manifold?

that sounds like an ecu issue if the check engine light isn't coming on with ignition, check the black wire and it's pin in the small plug at the ecu they have a habit of burning out

it's the earth for the ecu just check the pin isn't burnt, you could check for 12v on the two red wires in the same plug

do you know anyone with another trooper? you could swap the ecu when the light's not on and see if it comes on with the borrowed ecu, it won't start it it's just to see if it is an ecu issue. if it is then you would need an ecu kit you can't just do the ecu on it's own.

i take it you have searched the forum and tried the normal suspects just to eliminate things?
