They tow very well, plenty of grunt, and surprisingly good on juice.

I towed a big twin axle caravan from Nottingham the other day, up the A1 with no forth gear Rolling Eyes hardly ever in third though Very Happy

Is yours one with an intercooler? if so it should be even better with the extra torque.

I am looking to fit an intercooler to mine in the future.

Yep she's intercooled. Wink Pulled the load no worries. Very impressed. Will see how it goes in terms of endurance. Will be clocking up the kilometers very quickly soon. Could be possibly doing little shy of 800-900 kilometers per week. Not too sure yet, see what happens.

Well, if anything you want to be putting it on a diesel engine because of their reliability and durability. In the 2.8's case it falls under those two categories easily. Even though I've only seen pictures of the engine and never heard one run I know they are very good engines. Another great thing is while you're doing all those kilometers per week at the same time you'll be getting good fuel mileage to boot. Very Happy And you can't beat that.

lol, if you'd like I could record the engine sound and email it to ya? Not quite the same as hearing the real deal so to speak but you might be able to hear a distinct difference, not too sure.

If you could record the sound at idle and use something that will get it clear/crisp then go ahead I don't mind. It's not for real, but better than nothing. Thanks mbw13, appreciate it.

Mike, thanks for sending the email with the sound recording. I played it and it sounded pretty cool, it's a clattery beast just like I thought it would be given it is direct injection. Any chance you could do another one where you start it up, let it idle, and rev it a few times for a total of a 15-20 second file? Let me know and thanks again.

I towed my 6x4 Ifor williams trailer down to my house in France with no problems at all, in fact I actually forgot it was there and jacknifed it reversing at one point! It lugged the trailer loaded with a ton of oak firewood up my nasty steep rocky and muddy access track and across my msteep muddy field with no problems at all.
