Hi there, my friend has a 2005 rodeo 2.5, she has been having problems with the battery going flat, the alternator was changed, then the battery and it was fine for a little while during the summer. She was driving home tonight and lost power, lights went dim, some of the gauges went off and managed to limp it to mines. I checked the battery first and it was about 7v. I put one of the batteries out of my trooper in and started it, showed 12.6v when running off key, then up to 14v when revved and stayed over 14 when on idle. The problem is when the lights or the fan is turned on the battery drops to 12.6 so it seems the alternator stops charging when any load is on. Hope that makes some sense lol. Thanks Bryan

sounds like a new alt is needed if it can't keep up with the load

It was having this problem previously so a new alternator was fitted, then a battery but it’s just the same, do you think it could be a faulty alternator that was fitted?
