Hi Guys
Does anyone know if this should work:
After first unbolting the front actuator so I can see the fork inside it, if I then remove both rubber pipes marked X not from the actuator itself but the other end, if I then use a tyre foot pump and blow air into each pipe in turn should I see the fork move in each direction, in other words I’d be testing the diaphragm.
Also does anyone know what the thing which I’ve ringed in red does?
Thanks to anyone who can help
Clive

yes although it works by vacuum on the car but should still move with pressure and the ringed bit is the switch which is the final bit of the puzzle in the 4wd system that when everything is in place the switch is operated to make the light stop flashing |

Hello Eithan
Thank you so much for getting back to me my friend, just as soon as I get my new foot pump I will give the actuator diaphragm a try just to make its ok.
I can certainly move the fork slowly by hand and also slide the ring gear from side to side which the fork engages so no problem as regards things being seized up, but if all else fails I may have to spend more time under the truck and work my way through Rhanager's procedure for checking things out.
Call me chicken, but lying under the truck with the engine running is not exactly seven heaven to me, so would like to do as much of the testing as possible with just the ignition switched on but I will just have to see how I get on.
This may seem a daft question, but the ring gear which slides and engages the splines on both drive shafts, how on earth do these splines line up with each other in order to allow the ring gear to side and lock both shafts together without making a grinding noise if the splines aren’t in line?
Thank you once again for your help.
