Hi all..

First post on this site.

I just acquired a 97 bighorn diesel manual RHD with only 75k on it.
It's coming from Japan and shipped to Vancouver Canada.

I want to be ready for this thing. I'll be driving it back to Calgary Alberta once the ship docks.

Does the bighorn come equipped with an engine block heater?, gets a tad cold here in winter...

Cheers from calgary..

Dave

no block heater but they have a quick warm up system which makes the engine work harder and warms up quicker but it's advised not to use it as it can seize in the shut position and cause lots of black smoke and lack of power.

Thanks for that.

This is my very first diesel and I wont to know the do's and don't with this.

Reading the service manual with my outside temps...5w30 will be the norm I guess. Is synthetic recommended?

Also, the auto parts stores here in canada is not listing the Bighorn (not a surprise), but lists the troopers. Glow plugs wont be an issue to get, but oil filters and air filters would be the concern. Is there a parts match with a gasoline version? Other than that, the LHD parts for steering etc should not be hard to get.......hopefully.

the petrol version is totally different engine wise inc filters but steering stuff and suspension bits might be the same, over here we use a 10/40 in them
