Hi.
Went to move Trooper...no lights on dash. Everything dead.
Voltage on both batteries 4.5 v.
Assumed short circuit.
Disconnected batteries, connected charger..charger shows Fully Charged.
Disconnect..check voltage 9v..meter shows voltage dropping steadily to 6.4.
Charger not " able" to charge, since it shows fully charged...obviously not.

Is it possible both batteries are kaput...looks likely.
If not, any ideas of l" common" items causing short circuits on 2000 reg Trooper 3 litre?

Any advice gratefully received.
I will probably get batteries out and checked....I think Oocams Razor might apply...look at most simple possible cause!
DB.

Later:
As I thought..batteries goosed..one reads 6.9 Volts; second 4.63 volts.
The charger pointed to duff batteries.
But intriguing fact..I took out original batteries in 2012...not giving me any problems even after an incredible 12 years.
Replaced with expensive gel batteries, guaranteed for 5 years.
Kept originals in garage..charged them occasionally ..just in case.

Got originals out 12 years of working plus 7 years in garage getting charged....checked voltages 12.64.....removed gel batteries.....installed originals in car...hey presto...started no problem.
Unbelievable quality batteries.

I will probably buy two new batteries rather than tempt fate.
Not gel....bought three..two for Trooper one for Subaru.
Subaru failed after 5 years.
Troopers have lasted 7 years, so not too bad..but not a patch on the OE Japanese one fitted at manufacture.
