If you have been told to search for 'the white wire trick' then this is it.
This article applies to the Isuzu 3.0 (2999cc) 4jx1 (Heui) engine fitted to Isuzu Troopers and Bighorns, Honda Horizon, Vauxhall Monterey sold in the UK 1998-2005, and to the Isuzu Rodeo (Vauxhall's frontera) sold outside the Uk.
It does not apply to the 3.1 4jg2 or 3.2/3.5 petrol engines.
If you have a non starting 4jx1, or one that intermittently doesn't start, you can perform the following routine to test whether the non starts are caused by the Oil Rail Pressure Sensor (orps) being faulty. This exercise fools the ECU into believing that the sensor reports adequate rail pressure, which all else being well will enable the injectors and start the engine.
If the truck does start that indicates a faulty orps.
If the truck does not start, you have other issues.

The exercise:
On the left hand side of the engine at the bulkhead is the main engine oil dipstick.
Beside that is a multi plug loom connector which connects the vehicle wiring loom to the pink injector wiring loom.
This connector is the focus of your attention.
If you look at the wires coming up to the connector, there is one, in the middle which was once white, though may now be yellowing.
That is the wire that you need to disconnect. The neatest way to disconnect it is by removing the grey connector clip, and then using a tiny screwdriver, releasing the pin from the connector and gently withdrawing it using its wire. This way when the test is complete you can just push it back in.
If you are unable to withdraw the pin, then cut the white wire somewhere it is long enough to fit two crimp spade terminals ready to rejoin them afterwards.
*****DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN OR DRIVE LIKE THIS******
If you have an old or worn oil rail control valve this can cause the control valve to jam shut and cause further non running.
It will also cause misfuelling and potentially further engine issues. It is usually ok to drive home if you have had to cut the wire following a breakdown.
