Hi all ,  well after nearly  six years of trouble free running my 3.0l 4JX1 seems to have blown a head gasket. I have all the necessary gaskets, seals and o rings gathered together to amend the situation next weekend. I really would appreciate any advice, heads up etc. from you  sages out there. Many thanks Don

How did you get on with this job? Not many people about on the forums these days, and I am facing the same issue!

I too am prob looking at replacing the head gasket, I've seen a few comments that you don't need to remove the timing belt to do this. I haven't started the job yet, but soon yaaaaa!

You dont have to remove it but you obviously need to take it of the Cam sprocket. Personally, for the cost of a new belt and how easy they are to fit, I would change it anyway. You will still have to set the timing so may as well do it with a new belt.

on a 3.0l you do remove the timing belt but on a 3.1 you don't need to
