My Front left wheel bearing is grumbling, how quick a job is it to either grease and adjust or replace Question

No harder than any other taper bearing except that there are 2 each side.

Not much quicker to replace rather than re-grease as you still have to take the whole hub off to get to the inner bearing & if it is grumbling rather than just loose you should only think of replacement. Idea

Remember to pre-load when it's all back together and then again after 500 miles.

With a following wind it's about 30 mins per side. Smile

Don't run for long with them loose & noisy as it overheats the hub carrier & eventually damages it beyond safe use Crying or Very sad

to do the front hub
set hub to free then remove the six bolts take cover assembly off then circlip
remove the locking hub & brake caliper
you will then see three screws in the locking plate remove these then remove the lock nut can usually be moved with a screwdriver if stiff tap gently
the hub and bearings can then be removed for assessment and further work

Hi Mark,
just had exactly the same problem with an outer siezed. No matter how much banging it wouldn't budge. I had to invent a puller to do the job bolting it to the hub and jacking off the hub carrier (stub axle). Still took a while & a lot of pressure but it came off in the end. Heating didn't help mine at all.

That's the good news!

You need to be very wary of any damage to the shaft where the bearing was sitting. More than likely you will have trouble fitting the new bearing & the problem is then judging how much cleaning you can do before deciding the shaft is not safe any more. I'm having to change the upright as it was too badly damaged Crying or Very sad

Mine looks as though the previous owner had the bearing too loose and the inner part of the outer bearing was spinning on the shaft!

Good luck Smile
