You dont need the timing marks though, only the TDC notch.

There is a mark on the timing belt pully, but I dont remember two Confused

I would just slip the cover bolt with the pointer back in and bob the belt pully on and do it that way.

The 1st will be TDC, the other 3 will be timing marks.

To find out side (left or right dots) is tdc, pull an injector and see when the piston is at the top.
Or is the timing retarded or advanced? and which way does the engine spin, then you can work out which dot it tdc

Hallo again
I have put the timink belt on ant tryed to adjust it, but the timing belt tensioner is toutching the crank pully housing, So I tuk the tensioner off -it was holding on 1bolt - and the body of it is sliding in and out by  5 mmSo if puched in ,it can hide behind the crank pully housing ,But if pulled out it is touching it at the edge. IS that Normal or is the bearing gone on it Question

This link is no longer active. Do you know any other location to download a workshop manual for the 4JB1T?

You were right. I was using FireFox when I had the problem. Using IE, it came right up.

Thanks!

link still works. very nice to have that manual.
Its missing the troubleshooting section however. Does anyone have that by chance? Curious if it gives specifics for this engine, or just general stuff you get from dieselmaintenance books.

thanks in advance.
