|
|
Right I have checked all fluids in the gearbox and all seems to be ok, not low, no grit etc. Still having the same problem when towing, it seems to stick in 3rd gear after about an hour of travel, only towing a single wheeled caravan . I have to pull over wait about 30 minutes or so to cool down then its ok again until i tow again for an hour or so. Any ideas what could be causing this anyone, need to get this sorted because towing to the isle of wight in a couple of weeks. _________________ 1996 Bighorn 3.1td LWB. Lotus Edition. |

I take it this is an auto box, maybe it needs a fluid and filter change. _________________ Phil

the filter is inside the sump a steel pan with wire gauze it can be cleaned there are also magnets to collect any steel debris these need to be cleaned aswell
its the colour of the oil that counts pink or light brown OK

does the transmission oil temp light come on
is the oil going to the cooler in the bottom of the radiator
and just a thought do the brakes bind on caravan
if it does it again just check to see if the caravan wheels are hot
if they are over adjusted they may be free when cold but heat up and bind after travelling |

No light comes on at all, just stuck in 3rd gear. I have had the caravan brakes off cleaned/checked etc, they are ok. How would i know if the oil was going through radiator? _________________ 1996 Bighorn 3.1td LWB. Lotus Edition. |

I was checking all fluids last night, what is the container to the right of the radiator for, there is a pipe of the top of the rad into it and some fluid in the bottom. _________________ 1996 Bighorn 3.1td LWB. Lotus Edition. |

Just flushed the engine and rad coolant today, and the expansion tank had 1" of sludge in the bottom _________________ Front Aussie Locker - Rear LSD - Petrol Diffs
