Anybody changed a steering box on a 3.1td who can advise me on any pitfalls or tips. All advice gratefully received. Thanks

Howdee steve. Smile

Not removed the steering box its self but....... done lots of other things under there..

One to look out for is removing the centre steering link to pitmans arm ball joint!! No room and very tight to separate.. making sure not to damage it.

Also the pitmans arm to steering box is very tight you will have to use a heavy duty extractor to pull it off the splined shaft.

Dont want to put you off, but just letting you know what to expect when you do the job --- good luck with your project.

Ray

Thanks for that Ray. I have a replacement box ready to go on and I suppose some time over the weekend I will have to bite the bullet. I'll let you know how I go on.

Regards
