Hello all. My name is Alex. I have a 91 Trooper II. No mods yet but lockers are just around the corner.

Here's a pic

Hi I'm Martin from England.
I also recently bought my first Trooper (1991) and am enjoying it very much, even in standard form.
I like the picture and MPEG.
Cheers

Hi Alex, I've just bought a 1989 SWB 2.8 Van with a see-through chassis, not that it's meant to be that way but the ferrous oxide has done it's stuff and we will just have to plate it up, didn't pay a whole lot for it and we were expecting to do a bit of work so not too surprised. We were in Ontario last May and we noticed a lot of cars were suffering from rust I suppose this is because of all the salt that is on the roads, how do the Troopers stand up tto it out there?
Regards Paul.K

Sorry for the long delay in answering.
Troopers hold up pretty well (as long as you don't cut the wheel wells to fit larger tires then decide to wait a month to paint it) won't do that again.

I live on Vancouver Island in Victoria so I don't see much snow any more. I lived in Ontario until I joined the Navy and no car really faired well there. They salt the roads so bad that ur never sure if you got fresh snow or if the road crew was out again. Very Happy

I guess it's about time to update on the progress.
I've welded the rear.
Built new bumpers/brush guard.
Onboard air
Lifted 2"
put on 33" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws.
Here's a couple pics

Time for another update I guess.
Been an awsome wheeling/ daily driving rig but I bought a Samurai for a DD and the Troop has taken offroad duties. So the body doesn't look quite as nice as it once did.
Only new mods was rock rails and a winch.
Here's the pics and a link to a couple of vids.

And the vids

Excellent. Great photo's and good video! You handle that car well, you have obviously done a bit before in a LWB with not a lot of front wheel articulation - it's all about knowing the car really!

Aw thanks. And here I thought I was just thrashing a truck on 4x4/Suzuki wide trails.

That's what I alway thought - phrases like 'phew, that was lucky I got over that!' always went through my mind. Until a mate with a SWB coil sprung Landy had a go and failed miserably on a course I flew over, as did he in his Landy. Made me realise it was more than just gung-ho luck!

I was used to a leaf sprung SWB Landy before the Trooper, and they both are very similar to drive off road, with the Trooper needing a bit more thought on high lumps due to being a bit longer. Actually, it just needed a bit more momentum!
