Hello looking for this exact part for my Vauxhall Monteray (1996 3.1td)
As mine has cracks through the rubber. Any luck on finding this part?
So far have been quoted for 100's of pounds for one!!
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

If it's an anti-vibration thing and it is actually causing vibration, it seems you would probably be better off without it, and with it being mega expensive it would perhaps work out better to get a second hand propshaft off an ordinary trooper that doesn't have the expensive rubber thing. |

Mine split the rubber on my Mk.I. big vibration on acceleration. Got a brand new one next day from Isuzu for £60. Yes Isuzu had a 25 year old part on its shelf in the UK and got it sent from wherever to Norwich for the next day. Without it the rear prop wobbles and vibrates when under power. This will knacker the prop UJ's, rear gearbox seal, and rear differential seal and bearings. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

So, does this mean that the models with the rubber anti-vibe thing have a different gearbox and diff set-up to the other troopers without it, I have a 97, 3.1 lwb model without the rubber thing on the propshaft and don't suffer any major vibration problems, whereas the OP has a 96 LWB with the rubber doodah, so surely if the standard prop is ok on mine then other than a different gearbox/diff set up then why does mine run smooth, and why would his not with a standard propshaft?
Maybe I'm missing something. |

My thinking is Isuzu put it there for a reason
Also is it a Trooper or Bighorn thing.
Is it related to diff ratio's where the prop might have to turn faster for some models.
Did they decide to change the design of the prop. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

I think you might be onto something with the Trooper / Bighorn thing because Peej mentioned he's got one on his Monterey.
I still find it a bit strange that they would fit a heavy rubber and metal thing that is 10 inches diameter in order to reduce vibration with it having to be very well balanced to achieve this.
Maybe it's an overseas pre cursor to the dual mass flywheel and we know what a marvellous invention they are?? |

It is actually quite common on rear wheel driven vehicles. They will only be on vehicles that have a split rear propshaft. The centre bearing supports the tail end of the front section.
My Mk.I 2.8 LWB Bighorn has a split rear propshaft so has one. I cannot remember if my Mk.II 3.1 Bighorn has one. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

Captains Log Stardate 01/02/2020 Thanks Grandad, you got me in the right direction after a long search. My Harmonic Damper (rear propshaft vibration) is in a really poor state now. With your post I may be able to find a new one (at a price no doubt) |
