|
|
Hi everyone, once again apologies for the obligatory modular question.
Ive searched through the forum for a definative answer but keep coming across the same
stuff.
Have a 99 trooper citation, happened to bag myself a set of yoko geolander m/t's - 265/75/16.
Now just looking for the black modulars. Basically just trying to chunkify the truck a bit.
If buying a 7j wide wheel what offset am I looking for given the car is standard height?
Similarly would 8j wide wheels fit given the correct wheel offset - what should this be?
Thankyou for your time.
Craig. |

The offset is a separate thing to the rim width and expressed as -15 or -32 or similar the higher the number the more offset there is so you would need to measure what clearance you have now and work it out from there. The 0 offset being where the center of the rim is in line with the mounting face .
For example a 32 offset puts the center of the wheel about 4" further out than a 0 offset ..
With 265's on the issue may be rubbing on full lock at the back of the front wheel arch which will not be sorted by offset wheels at standard ride height so
you may need to consider a small suspension lift . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Thanks alot gribble, appreciate the explanation.
Ive had 265/75 muds on a standard height trooper before (99 plate aswell)
and had no rubbing issues.
I believe the standard alloys on this year of trooper are 7" wide,
would probably be safest to go for a 7j modular with a 0 offset? |

These work well on the Trooper, I've got a set of 255/85x16 BFG Muds on them and have very little rubbing

I run 285/75/16 muds on zero offset rims without any issues. Do have suspension and body lift though _________________ On victory, you deserve beer, on defeat, you need it. |

Thanks for the replies lads. Ended up ordering a set of 16 7j from 4x4tyres.
Pretty good price I think and seems to be very efficient delivery.
We'll see how they go when they arrive.
I must stress the truck will seldom be used in anger so I'm hoping that any scrubage is dealt with
a bit of minor arch liner surgery or a small suspension lift.
Ill throw a pic or two once they are fitted - purely for reference incase anyone
happens to be in the same boat as me.
Thanks again everyone. |

Thought I'd put a pic or two of the wheels fitted.
Might be useful for someone needing an idea of how the proportions look in real life
Would tend to agree with a previous post; the wheels are proud of the arches by approx 1".
